Lancashire County Cricket Club Case Study
Lancashire County Cricket Club Sports Flooring
Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) faced a significant challenge during their indoor sports facility refurbishment: finding a flooring solution that could withstand damp subfloors while meeting performance and environmental standards. They chose DuraFlex, featuring an innovative no-glue installation system tailored to their needs.
DuraFlex’s unique loose-laid design with a drytex backing provided the necessary stability and durability for LCCC’s high-traffic facility. Similar in properties to the Taraflex® Performance SL surface, Dura Flex falls within the P2 category, meeting high performance and safety standards required for training and competitive matches.
The inclusion of CXP-HD foam and D-max construction in DuraFlex ensured optimal performance, safety, and dimensional stability, crucial for a facility used by professional athletes.
A standout feature of DuraFlex for LCCC was its sustainability. The loose-laid design simplified installation and eliminated the need for additional moisture barriers, reducing labour and material costs. Made from recycled materials, the flooring demonstrated LCCC’s commitment to minimising environmental impact, with approximately 2,000 bottles repurposed for an 800-square-metre court.

Colour Chosen
Lancashire CCC chose ‘Beige 2804’ for their DuraFlex surface as it provides excellent contrast with cricket balls, enhancing visibility for players. The neutral tone also creates a professional and welcoming aesthetic while reflecting light effectively to brighten the space without glare. Beige also tends to minimises distractions, helping players focus, it hides dirt and scuff marks, making it easier to maintain a clean appearance. Additionally, the warm, subtle color contributes to a comfortable environment and serves as a versatile backdrop for branding or sponsorship logos, ensuring both practicality and aesthetic appeal.
